Katsuhiro Otomo’s AKIRA is about a post-World War III Japan dealing with world dealing with government corruption, motorcycle gangs and drugs. The manga series and feature film is known for its story and graphic storyline. As obvious by the Supreme AKIRA Yamagata T-Shirt, it can get gory at time. One of the more graphic pieces from the brand’s collaborative efforts, the tee is a turning point in the story. The image comes from a moment when one of the main characters, Tetsuo, kills his friend and fellow gang member Yamagata. How he kills him is a major plot point to the story. The gang’s leader, Kaneda, is the one who is clutching the bloody body of his friend and screaming his name. Supreme put their own spin on the artwork as now Yamagata is wearing a Supreme box logo top. The printed graphic was added to the front of the cardinal cotton tee.
