April 5, 2017 [DETROIT] – StockX, the world’s first online consumer “Stock Market of Things” for high-demand, limited edition products, announced today the launch of StockX TV, the world’s first web and television series focused exclusively on the resell sneaker market through the dual lens’ of data and celebrity. The series, hosted by StockX CEO Josh Luber and presented by Hypebeast, the premier site for men’s fashion and culture, will air strategically around big sneaker releases. Beginning in April 2017, the series will feature guest appearances from some of the biggest names in sports, music and culture.
“StockX TV represents an important step forward for both our brand and how we think about and use data and content,” said Josh Luber, StockX CEO and host of StockX TV. “There are only so many ways a sneakerhead can engage with sneakers, but data, which has always been a core part of our DNA, is a way to expand those opportunities.”
Shot at the desk from SportsCenter, in a studio next to a basketball court, in the heart of downtown Detroit, and looking south over the Detroit River to Canada, the 10-minute episodes will be available for streaming on StockX.com, Hypebeast.com, SkeeTV and Monumental Sports Network (D.C.), beginning April 5, 2017.
“We’re impressed with what StockX has built on the marketplace side,” said Scott Keeney, aka DJ Skee of SkeeTV. “It’s a true stock market for consumer goods, and we are excited to partner with them as they carry that concept into StockX TV.”
Episode one coincides with the much anticipated launch of the Air Jordan 4 Kaws and Air Jordan 1 Royal and follows Steve Aoki, perhaps the most popular DJ in the world, on a tour of his Las Vegas home and exploration of his $100K+ sneaker collection.
StockX, which was founded by Luber and Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Quicken Loans and majority owner of the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, is a consumer goods marketplace that connects buyers and sellers using a live “bid/ask” market — the exact same method used by the worlds’ stock markets. The company, which launched in February of 2016 focused solely on sneakers, previously announced high profile investors including Eminem, Mark Wahlberg and Ted Leonsis, is planning to expand into watches and handbags in the near future.
StockX TV premiers on StockX.com, youtube.com/StockX, Hypebeast.com and youtube.com/SkeeTV.
