The Kobe 9 has one of the most unique silhouettes of any athletic shoe. Described by one writer as a "high-high-high top," this shoe incorporated lots of new technology. From the ultra-light Flyknit fabric to the Lunarlon cushioning, this shoe was built for high performance. Even the sole was researched heavily. A pressure map was used to help the 9 deliver traction at all the right places. Later editions of the Kobe 9 famously featured nine red stitches on the heel to signify the Achilles injury he successfully came back from.
