This article is part 10 of 18 in the series: Warming Up To Fall

From a slew of collaborations to a number of general releases, New Balance has delivered numerous colorways and silhouettes that fit any budget and any style. If youā€™re unsure where to even begin, whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone else, check out our picks below of New Balances for every price point to help you get started. We’ve listed them from least expensive to most.

New Balance 327 Timberwolf Nightwatch Green

For those looking for a New Balance sneaker with a retro aesthetic, look no further than the 327. The New Balance 327 first arrived in the 1970s and was considered one of the top running shoes of its time thanks to its thick tread outsole. Since then, it has been adapted for casual streetwear use without losing its vintage look and feel. This Timberwolf Nightwatch Green colorway, in particular, is an easy-to-pair shoe thanks to its beige suede and textile uppers. Its big green ā€œNā€ logo adds just that necessary touch of color to make it pop more than your average monochromatic shoe. And for just a little over $100 in most sizes, you can feel better knowing you didnā€™t have to spend a lot to stand out.Ā

New Balance 990v5 Grey

The New Balance 990 has a long-lasting legacy within sneaker culture, and admiration for the model has only increased in recent years. When it debuted in 1982, the sneaker was the first to cross the $100 retail price, which made it one of the most expensive runners on the market at the time. Due to its high price, the sneaker was considered a luxury item, making it the perfect shoe for those looking to flex. And even though different iterations of the 990 have been made since, New Balance continues to ensure that the model maintains its cultural relevance while embracing the 990ā€™s past. 2018ā€™s 990v5 is New Balance’s latest version of the model, featuring Ortholite insoles for comfort, ENCAP midsole for stability, and suede uppers for a luxe feel. The classic grey colorway makes the perfect sneaker to pair with any outfit, and with most sizes being under its $175 MSRP, youā€™re getting a great deal for a versatile sneaker.Ā Ā

New Balance 990v3 Grey

Hype started building again for the New Balance 990 model during the Dad Shoe trend of 2017. This resurgence of appreciation for the classic runner had old and new fans of the model embrace the many variations of the 990, one of which being 2012ā€™s 990v3. In addition to a newfound love for the model and a few collaborations from cultural brands like Joe Freshgoods, Kith, and Bodega, the New Balance 990v3 has resurfaced as one of their most desired silhouettes. The New Balance 990v3 features all of the designs that gave inspiration to the 990v5, such as an ENCAP midsole, grey suede and mesh uppers, and reflective detailing throughout. And even though they are a bit more expensive than the v5s, purchasing this version lets those around you know that youā€™re up on sneaker culture. Outside of that, itā€™s still a great shoe for everyday casual wear.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

New Balance 550 Aime Leon Dore White Green

If staying up on-trend is your thing, then the New Balance 550 is for you. Not just any 550, but the ones made popular by Teddy Santis and his Aime Leon Dore brand. The ALD leader – and now New Balance creative director – helped ring in the 550ā€™s return with a collaborative selection of four colorways, each with an aged look further tapping into the sneakerā€™s old-school vibe. Since its retro release in 2020, the silhouette has remained one of the top-selling sneakers on StockX. The White Green pair features smooth leather uppers throughout its entirety while soft foam around the collar and Ortholite insoles provide comfort to the whole foot. Thanks to a few restocks, prices for this pair are currently low, but if its transactive history tells us anything, those numbers are sure to increase with time. There’s no better time than right now to purchase.Ā

New Balance 2002r Protection Pack Rain Cloud

The New Balance 2002r has seen an abundance of collaborative love the past two years from BAPE, Salehe Bembury, and thisisneverthat. But one colorway has stood out from the lot, and surprisingly it is a general release. The New Balance 2002r Rain Cloud is that sneaker. Its deconstructed design employs an upper full of multiple shades of grey – layers of ruggedly cut suede in various shades of grey, grey mesh, and exposed foam under grey leather on the tongue. This sneaker isnā€™t for those looking for anything quiet, but for those looking to push away from the norm with a certain degree of subtlety.

New Balance 990v3 Outside Clothes

The New Balance 990v3 Outside Clothes made in collaboration with Joe Freshgoods draws inspiration from the feeling of summer days playing outside with friends. The sneaker was released this past September and was New Balanceā€™s second collaboration with the Chicago-based designer and artist. Featuring tan suede, light blue mesh, and green accents throughout, the 990v3 Outside Clothes is for those looking to embrace their youthful side.Ā

New Balance 2002r Salehe Bembury Peace Be The Journey

Ever since leaving his VP of footwear position at Versace, Salehe Bembury has been creating gems with New Balance. His first release with the brand came in the form of a vibrant and fuzzy 2002r in 2020. The New Balance 2002r Peace Be The Journey is centered around embracing the great outdoors, as the sneaker takes design cues from the Antelope Canyons of Arizona. Covered in fuzzy orange suede, yellow mesh, and light blue felt on the ā€œNā€ logo, this New Balance sneaker is for those looking for something on the loud side and are comfortable spending some real money on coveted sneakers.

New Balance 992 JJJJound Green

The complete opposite of the flamboyant Salehe Bembury sneaker, this subtle offering from Canadaā€™s own JJJJound gives all the value with a quieter look. Justin Saunders, creator of the mood board turned creative design studio JJJJound, is a frequent NB collaborator who plays with tonal colors for his sneaker projects. This past yearā€™s 992 is no different, adding dark green suede and black accents to the classic runner. And although it is an understated shoe in terms of design, the New Balance 992 JJJJound is what many would call a subtle flex. The sneaker was released in limited quantities making it one of the more expensive NBs on the market. With that said, it is a shoe that will break the necks of those that know the New Balance game well.Ā Ā Ā Ā

New Balance 992 Joe Freshgoods No Emotions Are Emotions

Joe Freshgoodsā€™ first New Balance collaboration, Anatomy of the Heart, helped build momentum for the 992 model back in 2019. Even though the shoeā€™s design is centered around the bodyā€™s strongest muscle, the sneaker isnā€™t for the faint of heart. Comprised of shades of red, pink, and burgundy, the collab brings a bright color palette to the early 2000s sneaker and an even brighter addition to your fit. It’s certainly one of the most expensive New Balances out there, but we’re here for every budget.
