Virgil Abloh’s deconstructed aesthetic makes its way to the Air Jordan 2 Low. Even though it’s been four years since the Off-White co-founder introduced this aesthetic to sneakers, its distinctive design can still pose a challenge to find the right items for a great outfit. In A Perfect Fit, we choose a selection of pieces to help pull off some of the newest or overlooked items that deserve it, and this week we’re looking at the new Air Jordan 2 Low SP Off-White.
In a description from Nike, the Air Jordan 2 Off-Whites were a product of a creative challenge: imagining the Air Jordan 2 as if it were pulled directly from a time capsule. Facing this challenge, Abloh used a pair of Michael Jordan’s actual game-worn Jordan 2s from 1986 as a model for this collaboration. Mimicking the cracks from a literal crumbled midsole, these Jordan 2s feature a cracked design on each pair. But what makes this Jordan 2 so hard to wear isn’t its unusual design, but the silhouette itself. The model is pretty bulky and its aesthetic may seem quite dated to some, two qualities that have left the sneaker in the shadows of more popular Jordan silhouettes. Since the shoe hasn’t had a lot of exposure compared to a Jordan 1 or 11, there are also few examples of outfits that properly pull them off. So like Virgil and Nike, you may pose a challenge to yourself of figuring out how to go about styling a pair of bulky Jordan 2s. But no need to face the challenge alone, as we’ll show you how to do it properly.
Yeezy x GAP Hoodie Blue
Sometimes the right hoodie brings a lot to the outfit and we believe Ye’s latest release with Gap offers up just that right hoodie. Earlier in the fall, Ye, FKA Kanye West, released the second installment of his collaboration with the famous clothier in the form of colorful hoodies. This blue hoodie in particular matches with the black/blue Air Jordan 2 Lows. Constructed with double-layered cotton, the Yeezy x Gap hoodie is a heavy, warm option for the upcoming cold season. And while its straightforward design doesn’t take much away from the star of the outfit, which should be the shoes, the hoodie’s bold color won’t be overlooked by others either.
Telfar Shopping Bag Small Red
Telfar is still very much in their prime. From collaborating with UGG, to creating their very own 24hr TV network, Telfar has been on a momentous roll. Pairing one of the most popular streetwear brands with a luxury brand that is building its way towards that same category seems like the right option for any handbag accessory. The small red Shopping Bag matches well with the White Red pair from this Off-White release. Add in the accompanying tee or hoodie from the Jordan pack, and you have a knockout outfit.
Casio G-Shock Be@rbrick Shanghai Night
If a handbag isn’t necessarily your accessory of choice, then a watch might do the trick. Earlier this year, G-Shock partnered with collectibles favorite, Be@rbrick, on a capsule inspired by the Shanghai sunset. The ombre effect on the stainless steel bezel provides a perfectly matched color tone that can work with either Jordan 2 Low colorways. Shades of blue, red, orange, and black all compliment both sneakers well and will add an additional layer of color coordination to your outfit.
Supreme Crochet Crusher Multicolor
For those that haven’t noticed, crochet items have been popping up more frequently within the streetwear scene. Brands from Stüssy to Prada have all unspooled their yarn to create some unique pieces, arguably inspired by the fashion world’s obsession with unique brand Bode.
