As much as we love the extravagance that’s often on display when Jordan brand goes to work on brainstorming their often weird and wonderful colourways, there are those other times when we like to fly a little more under the radar with our sneaker selections.
Luckily, Jordan has that side of things down too, understanding exactly what’s required when we’re after something a bit more stripped back—shoes that are perfect for pairing with just about any outfit with minimal fuss.
Spanning all kinds of our favourite Jordan silhouettes—we’ve picked out some monotone highlights that offer a seamless, less-is-more addition to any wardrobe.
What Are Grey Jordans Called?
There are many variations of grey Jordan colourways, but the most famous are:
Jordan 1 Mid Light Smoke Grey Anthracite
A whole lot of wonderful contrasts going on here, the jet-black swoosh sitting loudly and proudly against the crisp white leather mid panel, all nestled seamlessly between the sublime Smoke Grey trim—it’s pretty much as clean as it comes, isn’t it?
Jordan 4 Retro White Oreo
An immensely popular drop upon its release last year, the AJ4 White Oreo paid homage and took its cues from the equally as popular White Cement, only this time, toning things down a little for a more understated aesthetic. All the classic features remain on show, the mesh panelling, visible air unit and of course, the unmistakable Jumpman tongue logo, which offers a rare splash of fire red against an otherwise glistening white and speckled grey trim.
Jordan 1 Mid Shadow Red
If Darth Vader was into his court-inspired footwear, the Jordan 1 Shadow Red would almost definitely have been the drop for him. One of just a few OG Jordan colourways, the Shadow palette features a grey leather base, built upon with bold black panelling, creating a stealthy look for the mid-top silhouette.
Jordan 11 Retro Cool Grey (2021)
Inspired by the very sneaker that MJ wore en-route to his fourth championship ring, Nike dipped back into the archives for a fitting celebration of the shoe’s 20th birthday. Staying true to the iconic colourway that Jordan donned on his return to the NBA, premium grey nubuck blends into an icy outsole sitting atop full-length air cushioning for elite comfort.
Jordan 5 Retro Moonlight (2021)
A premium black nubuck and grey upper inspired by the night sky makes for another stealthy-looking colourway, this time across the much-loved Jordan 5. Continuing the nighttime theme, a speckled shark tooth design mimicking the stars shoots across the midsole and a rather extravagant icy outsole pulls things together nicely.
Jordan 4 Retro Taupe Haze
2021 was a year packed full of massive releases for the Jordan brand and the Taupe Haze AJ4 was no doubt one of the standout moments. Donning in a striking, deep grey hue, the shoe screams premium and hasn’t lost a single shred of its appeal a full year on from its original drop.
Jordan 1 High Element Gore-Tex Light Bone
Looking for something a bit more heavy-duty but not wanting to sacrifice an ounce of style? The Jordan 1 High Element Gore-Tex hears your cries. Durable ripstop fabric offers sturdy, waterproof reinforcement and a plush padded ankle liner has you more than covered in the comfort department—seamlessly blending practicality with timeless good looks.
Jordan 3 Retro Cool Grey
A big return for Jordan’s beloved Cool Grey colour scheme as it takes over the Jordan 3 silhouette. On the whole, the aesthetic is fairly straightforward, though that familiar elephant print injects just the right amount of personality alongside the yellow accents. Sticking with its 2007 rendition, the shoe favours the Jumpman logo rather than the Nike Air heel branding.
