Hoodies: 101 - Back To School Essentials

We roundup the best hoodies from Fear of God, Nike, Broken Planet Market, and more for the return to school.

We roundup the best hoodies from Fear of God, Nike, Broken Planet Market, and more for the return to school.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, the Holidays aren’t upon us just yet. I am, of course, talking about shorts and hoodie szn™. As the summer holidays come to a close, and the impending return to school now firmly on the horizon, important decisions need to be made about the makeup of your wardrobe. Namely, hoodies.

The thermometer may have dropped a few degrees but you can’t put away those knees for the winter just yet. So if you need a little refresh in the hooded sweatshirt department then you’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re looking to turn heads on the first day of school or add something timeless for the colder months ahead, peep our shortlist below for the foremost fleecy fabrics.

Fear of God Essentials (Dark Oatmeal)

Like the Big Mac is to burgers and Henry the Hoover is to vacuums, Fear of God deliver the essential hoodie. Shooting to prominence during the COVID pandemic when the World wanted the most elevated basics for home comfort, Jerry Lorenzo’s Essentials line hasn’t slowed down since. No longer confined to indoors we can fits off alfresco, so if athleisure is the aesthetic then pull out the Essentials. The key colourway to look out for is Dark Oatmeal and I feel healthier just thinking about it. Perfect for when the lunch box is lacking.

Supreme – Inside Out Box Logo (Black)

Hotly anticipated every season, we keep our eyes peeled to see how Supreme are going to serve up their bi-annual box logo offering. A real Marmite piece (you either love it or you hate it), the BOGO is regularly the most discussed and debated product in each collection. So how do you keep it fresh after all these years? Well, Supreme really flipped the script on this one, literally, by turning the hoodie inside out. Mum’s spaghetti on your sweater? No problem, just flip sides and you’re good from the school gates to the skatepark.

Broken Planet Market – Find Your Balance (Ash Grey)

Sometimes you’ve gotta take the rough with the smooth. Pick your battles. Find your balance. But there’s one thing Broken Planet Market isn’t looking to back down on, and that’s making serious moves towards ensuring sustainability is a core focus of the fashion industry. The cult British brand has generated a loyal following thanks to their trademark, bold graphics (gotta love that puffy printing) whilst staying true to their message from production to consumption. With their collections selling out on the regular you know StockX has got you covered when it comes to making a statement this term.

Nike x Nocta – Tech Fleece (Black)

If you don’t know about Tech Fleece by now where have you been? Nike’s core tracksuit offering has been trading like crazy with thousands already copping the simple-yet-swaggy zip up hoodies. Whether you’re wearing it over your uniform or it is your uniform, there’s no better time to get techy. With popularity at an all-time high, you know Drizzy had to give it the Nocta treatment. Drake keeps it authentic by muting the tones and simply adding a few little pops of colour on the Swoosh and subtle Nocta branding. So if you’re feeling this look, why not throw in the pants as well. Combination!

Human Made x Lil Uzi Vert (Pink)

Stationary. Check. Lunch money. Check. $30 million forehead diamond, erm. OK, so not all of us are looking to put 11 carats in our face, but don’t let that stop you from taking some Uzi inspiration when it comes to hoodies. Teaming up with Human Made to give us quasi-collegiate vibes, the sweater features an Uzi-branded bat, and broken hearts for those feeling emo. Because there’s nothing more sombre than a pink hoodie. Or is it salmon?!

Supreme x Burberry Box Logo (Black)

The second BOGO on our list, but this one cannot be overlooked. Arguably the most iconic and recognisable print in fashion, Burberry’s check adorns Supreme’s cornerstone piece of apparel to deliver a monumental collaboration between streetwear and high fashion. Originally created in the 1920’s to line Burberry raincoats, the check has gone on to wrap everything from caps to umbrellas. Dragging a full Burberry luggage set to school isn’t really ideal, but this box logo hoodie is the perfect way to show your appreciation for true fashion heritage whilst keeping it casual.
