Back to Basics: Wardrobe Essentials

Whether it’s no-nonsense Nike footwear, understated FOG Essentials apparel or The North Face winterwear, we’ve got you covered.

Whether it’s no-nonsense Nike footwear, understated FOG Essentials apparel or The North Face winterwear, we’ve got you covered.

We all need those outfits that are easy to throw together when inspiration is wearing thin. Tried and tested staples that look the part with little-to-no effort involved.

Momentarily veering away from the extravagance and heavy branding of the “hype” pieces we love marvelling at, we’ve picked out a few of our favourite basics that are perfect for effortlessly bulking up any wardrobe collection.

Nike Tech Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie Black

Incorporating double-sided spacer fabric, the Nike Tech fleece is able to provide a good amount of warmth without any annoying bulkiness or extra weight. Its monotone colourway makes outfit matching an absolute breeze while the extra zippable arm pocket ticks a very welcome box in terms of practicality.

Stussy Basic L/S T-shirt White

The folks at Stussy rarely miss the mark in anything they do these days, though their ability to really nail simplicity has played a significant role in the brand’s consistent success. A timeless classic, the basic long-sleeve tee in a crisp white colourway is very much a prime example of that.

The North Face 1996 Retro Nuptse 700 Fill Packable Jacket

Everyone needs a big winter coat—that’s a non-negotiable given the unpredictability of the British weather. The iconic TNF Nuptse’s design has remained the same since it first hit the ski slopes, but its retro silhouette, lofty down insulation and quick-drying fabric means the Nuptse is just as stylish and practical in 2022, as it was in the ’90s.

Nike Air Force 1 Low 07 White

It doesn’t come much cleaner than the triple white Air Force 1. Few sneakers are better equipped to seamlessly pair with just about any outfit than Nike’s beloved basketball shoe. Marrying uncomplicated style with welcome comfort, it’s easy to see why the AF1 has been a consistent favourite throughout the decades—a trend that we can’t see shifting anytime in the near future.

Yeezy x GAP Hoodie Black

Unsurprisingly dubbed the ‘perfect hoodie’ by Kanye himself back in 2020, Yeezy and GAP caused quite the stir when they first dropped this loungewear staple. Coming in double-layered cotton and a slightly cropped fit, quality was clearly at the forefront of the design and manufacturing process, with the jumper proving to be a sturdy, worthy investment.

Uniqlo GU x Undercover Padded Coat Black

If there’s one thing Japanese stalwarts Uniqlo know, it’s supreme-quality gear that you can turn to time and time again. Throw in the punk-fused streetwear knowhow of Undercover, and you’ve got a solid outer layer that despite its simplicity, contains enough character to give it a little extra edge.

Nike x Drake NOCTA Cap Black

Inspired by Drake’s nocturnal creative habits and the street looks of Toronto, London and Paris, the NOCTA Essentials low-profile 6-panel cap is another convenient bit of headwear capable of rounding off any and all outfits.

Fear of God Essentials T-Shirt Dark Heather Oatmeal

Neutral colours, maximum comfort and incredibly easy to style, Fear of God’s Essentials range ticks pretty much all the boxes you’d want from a wardrobe basic—whether it’s part of a straightforward jeans and tee get-up, or a plain base for layering, its versatility will no doubt prove invaluable for day-to-day wear.

KAWS x The North Face Beanie Black

While much of the hotly-anticipated link-up between renowned artist and designer KAWS and outdoor veterans, The North Face, came in the form of vibrant, garish patterns and colours, the blackout beanie cut a far more subtle aesthetic ideal for a classic ensemble in the colder months.
