It’s been just over two years since Fear of God Essentials released their incredibly popular Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Though not the brand’s first official release by a long shot, it seemed to signal a shift in the brand. That shift could be described as a consistent seasonal offering of several hundred styles ranging from hoodies and sweat shorts to the occasional denim and knitwear release. Since 2020, the Essentials brand has become one of the most popular on StockX, and their hoodies are their most desirable products. For their Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Fear of God Essentials has delivered the latest iteration of their popular hoodies, this time making them available in two never-before-seen colorways.
For the release of their Fall/Winter 2022 collection, the popular Fear of God Essentials Hoodie was made available in a new style and in three new colors. As far as construction goes, the hoodies are very similar to past season’s styles. They’re still made with the brand’s heavyweight cotton, polyester blend fleece and they still maintain the traditional boxy, oversized Fear of God Essentials fit. But the colorways, especially Coral and Eggshell, make for the brand’s first real deviation from their traditional earth tone color palette in years. The Coral-colored Fear of God Essentials Hoodie features a tonal velvet flocked logo on its chest and the brand’s traditional black patch on the hood. Both the Coral and Eggshell colored hoodies are reminiscent of some of Essentials’ first-ever releases, calling out to the Lemonade and Pink colorways from 2019.
Over the last two years, the Fear of God Essentials Hoodie has dominated StockX’s apparel marketplace. Since August of 2021, five of the top ten bestselling apparel items on StockX are Fear of God Essentials Hoodies. As far as colorway goes, black is the bestseller by far, but there are several other colors following behind it. With the addition of new colorways to the Fear of God Essentials palette, it’s likely that the brand’s dominance on StockX will only continue to broaden.
While it’s likely that the most popular pieces from the Fear of God Essentials Fall/Winter 2022 collection will be the hoodies, the full assortment featured 200 new apparel items. The collection included full lines of apparel for both women and children and even featured a small denim assortment and several bucket hats. Fear of God Essentials also expanded their knitwear line for all audiences delivering cable knit sweaters for men and mock neck vests for women.
For fans of Fear of God, this Essentials release will have been a very exciting one. The introduction of new styles and colorways is always exciting, especially when those colorways fall outside of what the brand traditionally delivers. Those who follow the brand closely will also be on the lookout for the first official release from Fear of God Athletics, Jerry Lorenzo’s partnership with adidas. It’s been almost two years since the partnership was officially announced and it was expected that the first release would be arriving in the second half of this year. Which means it could happen at any time now.
