This article is part 22 of 82 in the series: That's 5

Fetti031 and Sie7etr3 label encompasses a group of Dominican traperos who have taken Latin Trap and created their own, Bronx-based version of the exploding genre. The buzz about Fetti031 and Sie7etr3 has continued to grow after Caroline, an independent distribution and label services division of Capitol Music Group, inked a worldwide distribution deal with them earlier this year.

For this installment of “That’s 5,” we caught up with Fetti031 to talk about not getting focusing on “being the first,” his new music with Chucky73, and why he thinks trap music is underrated.

The following interview has been lightly edited.

What influences you?

My family and fans really influence me. Knowing the amount of love and support I have from them influences me to keep going. And it’s not just about making music but being the best I can be to stay on my tip-top and keep grinding.

What’s the most overrated?

I would say being first, being first is super overrated. Being the best at what you do doesn’t always mean you’re going to be first. Sometimes working at your own pace and enjoying the success you’re creating on your own is more important than being first.

What’s the most underrated?

I think the most underrated thing in music is trap. I say this because millions of fans connect to trap and live that lifestyle. It’s a way that most people in the streets can express themselves or share a hard moment they went through in life, such as struggling with poverty, drugs, death, etc. I think a lot of fans and supporters don’t see that truth behind the music. They think we’re just rapping about a lifestyle we saw in the movies, or we’re exaggerating on our raps, but 99% of these bars are based on someone’s lifestyle or even my own.

What are you most excited about right now?

I’m about to be blessed with another daughter, and I have my deal with Sie7etr3 and Caroline Music! This music stuff has become more than work for me. It’s a dream come true. It’s amazing when your co-workers become family. Man, to be honest, my whole life is exciting at this point. Everything I’ve worked hard for is finally paying off.

What’s next for you?

What next for me is my joint EP with Chucky73 called Sie7etr3. This actually is the first EP we’ve ever dropped. We have a total of eight songs with a mixture of back to backs and Brazilian funk I’m also working on my first album! It includes trap, drill, and of course, something romantic for all my female fans.
