StockX is celebrating the late writer and collector Dallas Penn with a sale of select pairs of sneakers from his extensive archive. To mark the opening of the sale, StockX NYC hosted a party on Thursday, Oct. 29, with a panel discussion on Penn’s approach to collecting.
Dallas Penn (1970–2024) was a blogger, podcaster, and documentarian from Queens, New York. His work highlighted the textures of hip-hop and Black youth culture, as well as life in New York City, through vivid, first-person accounts of his past. He chronicled buying gold fronts at Albee Square Mall and partying at bygone clubs, alongside enthusiastic reporting on the present in the streets, on the subway, and at McDonald’s.
Penn was a serious collector—first of comic books, later of sneakers and Polo Ralph Lauren clothing. He told The New York Times in 2021 that he had a two-bedroom home on Long Island filled with footwear. “Inside my refrigerator I keep several pairs,” Penn said.
StockX is proud to partner with Penn’s wife, Susan, on a limited sale of sneakers from his personal archive, with proceeds benefiting the Dallas Penn Storytelling Fund. StockX NYC has 10 pairs from the Dallas Penn collection on display and for sale, exclusively in-store at 237 Lafayette St., through Nov. 13.
Additional pairs are available online via StockX Listings.
