Released 2006
The New Balance 1500BFR proved to be a very divisive release within the New Balance community. In fact, the 1500BFR caused quite a bit of contention within the Crooked Tongues design team, too. The New Balance 1500BFR was a part of the Crooked Tongues “Confederation of Villainy” pack. Each sneaker in this pack drew inspiration from a famous villain, and The 1500BFR was inspired by Blackbeard the pirate. Limited to 99 pairs, the 1500BFR also featured customed tongues and boxes designed by the tattoo artist BJ Betts.
