Following the 2008 redesign of the New Balance 1500, New Balance collectors were extremely disappointed with the newer, more bulky design. However, when Aberdeen, Scotland streetwear brand and retail shop Hanon worked with New Balance for the 1500CHF (Chosen Few), Hanon was able to convince the Flimby factory to use a different manufacturing technique resulting in a slimmer toe box design.
