The big news out of Baselworld from Rolex may have been the return of a steel Pepsi bezel GMT, but that’s not the only watch that has collectors taking notice. Rolex actually introduced 3 new GMTs today (with an update to another), and the other two represent a first for the GMT family, that is the inclusion of Everose gold. If you’ve been waiting for the return of the Root Beer GMT, this is as close as you’re likely to get.
The other new GMTs, ref. 126725CHNR (all Everose), and ref. 126711CHNR (Rolesor, or two-tone), each feature brown and black Cerachrom bezels against black dials. Everose is brought onto the dial as well in the hands and hour surrounds. It’s a warm look that echoes historic references such as the 16713 and the 1675 “Root Beer” – the latter of which sported the famous “nipple dial”.
The new watches also get a new movement, Rolex’s caliber 3285 with a longer power reserve, and a Parachrom hairspring, offering greater resistance to shocks and to temperature variations.
Expect to pay a bit more than the steel model, however, we expect these to be more accessible than the Pepsi bezel. If you don’t want to wat, shop the current GMT collection on StockX, right here.
