Traditionally defined as someone who excels at both offense and defense in basketball, Two-Way Players are distinguished by their uniquely multifaceted abilities. At StockX, we consider a two-way player to be anyone who can excel at their creative endeavors while also displaying a sense of authentic style that turns heads. Whether it be an athlete padding the stat sheet then hopping off the bus with the fit of the night, or an artist dropping bangers and collaborating on must-cop collections, a two-way player transcends expectations both professionally and stylistically in equal measure.
For most, success does not come overnight, particularly in the fashion industry. It takes a strong sense of determination and an authentic attachment to one’s own vision to be successful in such an ever-changing world. Jerry Lorenzo, the visionary founder behind Fear of God, has tapped into that lethal formula, bringing his vivid ideas to life at a high magnitude.
Raised by a father who played and coached in Major League Baseball, Lorenzo grew up with an inherent love for sports. It’s easy to imagine how much time he spent in his younger years learning about the world of sports and how athletes created their image. After graduating with an MBA from Loyola Marymount, Lorenzo decided to take that love for sports more seriously, going to work for sports agencies that managed some of his favorite athletes.
It was a powerful experience in the most unexpected way, and it ultimately helped Lorenzo discover his true talent of designing. As he was managing athletes, Lorenzo also began styling them.

This unconventional journey to fashion gave him the ability to connect two very important facets of American culture: music and sports. To this end, Lorenzo is a two-way player in his own right.
While his popularity has increasingly grown, Lorenzo’s perspective on fashion is open and attached to a very specific inspirational meaning. In a 2017 interview, he explained that the meaning of his clothing line was inspired by Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest. There aren’t too many creatives who admittedly mix childhood memories, personal experiences, and their faith into their work. Two-Way players are able to dominate and influence in multiple fields while sticking true to their vision. It is evident that his effort for self-expression shines through his work. This sentiment has made him a success. Lorenzo’s vastly different approach to fashion in regards to following trends and the traditional process is what makes him appeal to various brands, athletes, and entertainers. His innovative designs are eye catching yet singular.

Lorenzo’s clothing line was no doubt destined for greatness since day 1, but it’s impossible to ignore the powerful impact from co-signs coming from the one and only Kanye West.
Having an authentic background that connects Lorenzo to both sports and music through fashion is fascinating.
Having ties with the Los Angeles Dodgers straight out of college, to witnessing iconic music artists wear Fear Of God t-shirts with a hood, and future NBA Hall of Famers rock Fear Of God sneakers, is something most designers dream of.
From designing world tour merch for Kanye West and Justin Bieber, to developing one of the most innovative basketball sneaker of this generation with Nike allowing players like Lebron James, PJ Tucker, and Draymond Green to rock them, Lorenzo has deviated the fashion industry without traditional training, resulting in him embracing the true meaning of StockX’s Two-Way player.
