This week all of our favorite brands are unloading the best of the best, one after another. Union LA and Jordan Brand are finally releasing their long-awaited Jordan 4, Nike SB, and Medicom are launching their fifth SB Dunk, and Yeezy is dropping the thermostats with a frosty 700 V3. Check out everything that is on our radar in the latest edition of The Drop List.
Jordan 4 Union LA
Following their debut Jordan 1 collaboration in 2018, Union LA has teamed up with Jordan Brand once again to add their own twist to the Jordan 4. Union owner and operator Chris Gibbs has made it clear the Jordan 4 is his favorite silhouette after the Jordan 1. It was only right that Unionās second Jumpman project utilized the AJ 4.
Unlike their Jordan 1, the Jordan 4 Union does not rely on OG color-blocking and materials. Instead, it offers a fresh take on the model with design alterations unlike anything we have ever seen before. The Union LA 4 consists of a mesh and suede upper with additional paneling around the vamp, giving a new shape to the classic silhouette. A folded tongue references Gibbsā personal preference of a shorter tongue, but for those who like to keep it OG, the tongue can easily be switched back to normal by cutting the stitching along the fold.
There are still some attributes from the Jordan 1 Union that are prevalent in this forthcoming release. Black, white, red, and blue prominently makes up both colorways as a tribute to the original Jordan releases, only this time each color is slightly muted. Yellowed soles make a return to provide a vintage feeling that has become ingrained in Union LAās design message.
Look out for both colorways of the Jordan 4 Union to release Saturday, August 29th for $225 exclusively on the Union LA website. If you miss out on copping your pair, donāt worry. A global release of the Jordan 4 Union Off Noir is slated to hit SNKRS and select stockists later in September.
Kobe V Protro 5x Champ / Kobe V Protro Girls EYBL
In honor of Mamba Day on 8/24, Nike is releasing two new colorways of the Kobe V Protro with the Kobe V Protro 5x Champ and the Kobe V Protro Girls EYBL. The Kobe Protro series focuses on taking early Nike Kobe designs and modifying them with upgraded technology and materials so that performance never ages out.Ā
Reminiscent of the original Kobe 5 Lakers Away colorway, the Kobe V Protro 5x Champ pays homage to Kobeās monumental career with the Lakers. It features a regal purple upper embedded with FlyWire, plus black overlays and Del Sol detailing. A white midsole, icy translucent outsole, and black Swoosh coordinate so perfectly that they are worthy of a #1 seed in the NBA Playoffs.Ā
The Kobe V Protro Girls EYBL draws inspiration from the most monstrous Gorgon in Greek mythology, Medusa. The stories say that with just one glance, Medusa could turn her foes to stone. Luckily with the right handles, it doesnāt take superpowers to freeze defenders in their steps. The upper on this Kobe V consists of dark grey FlyWire with subtle snake graphics visible on each panel. Striking white accents, yellow and orange interior detailing, and co-branded embroidery on the tongue adds the finishing touches to this Mamba masterpiece.
Both the Kobe V Protro 5x Champ (August 24th) and Kobe V Protro Girls EYBL (August 29th) are set to release this week for $180 on the SNKRS app and at select stockists.Ā
