Pokémon Charizard is a member of the original 152 Pokémon and one of the most recognisable characters in the franchise. Featuring an orange, dragon-like body and a flaming tail, Charizard was created by Atsuko Nishida. Although this beloved character made an initial appearance in the videogame Pokémon Red and Green, Charizard has been a staple in the Pokémon Trading Card Game since 1996 in Japan and 1999 in the USA. This fire-type Pokémon is also featured in the animated series, which first debuted on an English-speaking network in 1998. Over the years, Pokémon has become a cultural icon synonymous with the late '90s and early 2000s, but has modern iterations, as well.

Pokémon’s Charizard is one of the earliest faces of the franchise and has been featured on 48 different cards since the Base Set debuted. Charizard also appears on other merchandise, including apparel, footwear, toys, bags, books, phone accessories, and stationery. Pokémon Charizard cards have evolved over time, incorporating a range of colour schemes and artistic designs. The Japanese Charizard-Holo 1996 Pokémon TCG Base Set #006 is an OG card, showcasing Japanese characters and a fire-breathing Charizard.

Pokémon Charizard cards stand out because they are some of the rarest and most valuable. Released as part of the Base Set in 1999, the Charizard 1st Edition (4/102) is considered one of the most valuable Pokémon cards. The Charizard 2000 Pokémon TCG Base Set 2Holo #4 (Ungraded) is another noteworthy card, which features a holographic foil pattern and dynamic imagery.

Pokémon Charizard can also be found in expansions of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, including XY Evolutions, Burning Shadows, and Champion’s Path.
