2050+ is an interdisciplinary agency that works across design, technology, the environment, and politics. The name refers to the date often taken as a reference in many studies to measure the state of the planet: a point in time that could mark a path towards a better future, or to the end of civilization and the living world, as we know it.

The symbol ‘+’ is about hope and looks at what will come next. We wanted the name to give a sense of urgency and realism that is often absent from the architecture discourse. It’s both a call for action and a tool to map conditions and detect timely responses.

Our work as a studio is inspired and informed by a strong awareness of the entanglements between our destiny as humans and that of the planet we inhabit. As a studio that is interdisciplinary as its core, we draw on different skills and fields of expertise to investigate and intervene critically in today’s fragile and changing environment.
