Part of the brand’s extensive Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Supreme’s collaboration with Katsuhiro Otomo’s AKIRA franchise consisted of a large assortment of apparel. Besides a graphic tee, a zip up sweatshirt is a solid addition to anyone’s closet. The piece here is kept simple. The base is a classic black heavyweight cotton fleece body with pouch pockets and full zipper. The Supreme logo doesn’t even appear on the front, it is embroidered onto the hood. The back is where all the action happens. There the team at Supreme added original artwork from the iconic manga. The “Syringe” scene is one that is part of daily life in Otomo’s fictional world. The frame is repeated three times, filling up a large portion of the back for added effect. Japan had to wait until November 4th for their release.
