Chucky73 of the Sie7etr3 label is part of a group of Dominican traperos who have taken Latin Trap and created their own, Bronx-based version of the exploding genre. The label’s artists, Chucky73, Fetti031, Dglo73, and Youngkilla73, have been captivating a quickly-growing fanbase through their upbeat take on drill and wild videos. The buzz about Chucky73 and Sie7etr3 has continued to grow after Caroline, an independent distribution and label services division of Capitol Music Group, inked a worldwide distribution deal with them earlier this year.

For this installment of “That’s 5,” we caught up with Chucky73, Sie7etr3 label’s frontman, to talk about following your dreams, his new music with Fetti031, and why the Bronx remains a creative center of hip-hop.

Grab the new EP, “Sie7etr3,” now.

The following interview has been lightly edited.

What influences you?

What influences me to do the music the most is seeing the joy people get out of my music. I see so many people who use music to get through the day, to stay focused, etc. and I wanted to be a part of it. Knowing how many people enjoy my music will always make me want to put more out there.

What’s the most overrated?

There’s a lot of overrated things, but I say a 9-5 job is overrated. There’s a lot of people who hold back on their dreams, on doing something they love, just because they work a 9-5 and never have enough time for themselves.

What’s the most underrated?

Related to the overrated question, I will say following your dreams. There are a lot of people who feel like they will be wasting their time, or they won’t have the support to follow their dreams. So, following your dreams is super underrated because so many people just give up before they even try.

What are you most excited about right now?

I’m most excited about all the new music I’ve got coming out. We’re working with Caroline music on reaching more fans and building our label, Sie7etr3. My co-partner JaJa73 has got me on peak, and I can’t wait to take everything I’ve been doing to the next level. We’re going to be big in this industry.

What’s next for you?

I have my joint EP with Fetti031 dropping soon—Fetti031 is also signed to us. So catch that soon, it will be called Sie7etr3.  I will have a debut single on the EP called “GG2.0,” which is one of the best trap songs I ever wrote!

Bonus question: What should people know about hip-hop and the Bronx?

People should know that hip-hop from the Bronx has always had and will always have great talent coming from here. We all come from different ethnicities and have different heritages, which allow us to learn from different music, develop different flows, and have different lingo. So when we become involved in music it’s easy for us to adapt and to learn from others.
