This article is part 13 of 31 in the series: On The Line With...

If quarantine has taught us anything, it’s that DJs are still thriving. Brun has played at the most iconic venues and festivals around the world, from STORY Miami to Ultra Music Festival. He also took it a step further by creating his own annual Haitian block party-style tour named Bayo, not to mention a World Cup anthem with J.Balvin that we’re still dancing to. While he can’t hit the clubs and festivals like he’s used to, Brun is still serving us beats live from his living room. We got in touch with him to learn more about what keeps him going while he’s staying at home. Read below for our latest installment of On The Line With…

Describe what you do for a living and how you’re adjusting to social distancing.

I’m a music producer and DJ based in NY. Thankfully aside from gigs, my schedule hasn’t changed much.

During this time of social distancing, people are leaning on things such as streaming services, puzzles, at-home workout classes, to name a few, what activities are you using to take your mind off of things?

Catching up with friends and family, playing video games and watching a lot of TV and movies.

What is keeping you grounded/balanced at the moment?

Keeping a schedule! Doing my best to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. It helps to stay productive and positive.

How have you stayed connected to friends and family during this time?

FaceTime and WhatsApp!

How do you typically start your day? What daily rituals are you practicing?

I wake up around 9, listen to the news while I make breakfast, take a shower, do any emails, and then start working on music.

How are you staying productive while at home? Any useful tips?

I try not to stay up too late so I wake up every day with energy. Also making sure I eat proper meals throughout the day. I think it’s really important to not get into the habit of procrastinating too much when you’re home all day.

What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling in isolation right now?

Whether you’re a spiritual person or not, I think it’s important to give yourself a few minutes in the morning to meditate or pray. Whatever you can do to clear your mind and be aware of yourself and your surroundings. I think it’s also a good opportunity to identify things you’re grateful of. That always helps to keep my mind positive.

What accomplishment are you most proud of while social distancing?

Cleaning my apartment haha. Also organizing all my music gear and software so it’s easier to work.

What are you most looking forward to once this is over?

Connecting with people in person again. Getting back to my shows and DJing.
