The most anticipated collaboration in fashion dropped this summer to a feeding frenzy that’s still in full force. The perfect of-the-moment combination of class and cool, the Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection was first unveiled at Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January 2017. The capsule collection includes clothing, accessories, shoes, trunks and leather goods. Founded by James Jebbia, Supreme debuted in 1994 in New York City. Its famous red and white logo is based on artist Barbara Kruger’s work who often explored themes of feminism, materialism and consumerism – pretty ironic given the fact that the LV x Supreme collection’s pièce de résistance is a monogramed trunk retailing for $50,000.
About 140 years before Supreme was founded, the actual Louis Vuitton set up shop in Paris after starting out as a box maker. The fashion house has since become one of the most recognizable and sought after high end brands in the world, spanning a legion of loyal supporters including everyone from Napoleon’s wife (Yes, that Napoleon) to the Louis Vuitton Don himself, Kanye West.
The Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection has attracted allegiance (and Instagram posts) from celebs like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and DJ Khaled but last week perhaps no one did it best than Beyonce. Queen B always knows how to make an arrival, and last week she broke Instagram with a series of selfies from a date night with Jay Z, featuring the Louis Vuitton x Supreme Pochette Jour. By avoiding the monogram jackets every influencer loves, says Vogue, she managed to break through the Supreme hype in a unique way, proving that “the most important accessory isn’t a must-have designer piece—it’s a fresh point of view.” Truth.
We’ve got Yoncé’s Pochette but there’s so much more. Check out some of the signature pieces of the Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection that you can buy and sell on StockX.
