Fashion month came to an end in Paris last week, where the street style and the unexpected runway antics did not disappoint. After shows in NYC, London, and Milan, Paris Fashion Week brought the best in Spring 2020 styles. PFW was full of moments that transgressed beyond the world of fashion – from French YouTuber and comedian Marie Benoliel crashing the Chanel show and going viral, to a focus on sustainability and eco-fashion just as United Nations’ first Climate Action Summit was subsequently taking place in New York.

Here are our best bag picks from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Dior, and more below.

Louis Vuitton

Nicolas Ghesquiére’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection was inspired by the Belle Époque – when Europe and the Louis Vuitton brand were at its best. “It was a time of excitement and tremendous change, it’s about revisiting all that,” said Ghesquiére in a statement. “It was an exponential moment for the house, which then began to travel the world.”

Ghesquière drew from the past for Spring 2020 bags too, revealing monogram totes decorated with VHS tapes, bold touches of ’70s glamour, and reimagined versions of favorites like the Egg Bag, which debuted at the Spring/Summer 2019 show.

Dior

Dior’s show featured a secret forest with 164 trees, keeping the current environmental and climate crisis at the forefront, even on the runway. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s other inspiration was Christian Dior’s sister Catherine, who went from resistance fighter and prisoner of war during World War II to lauded botanist.

The popular Dior Book Tote made an appearance in new colors and patterns, as did resurrected Dior Saddle Bag, featuring flora along with the Dior logo emblazoned across the center.

As for the trees, they were meant to be planted at various locations in France after the show. “I have always perceived a fashion show as a way to spread a message, a platform to share my convictions,” said Chiuri backstage. “This season, I also wanted to encourage people to take action.”

Celine

Hedi Slimane’s vision for Celine Spring 2020 remains firmly rooted in the ’70s, the heyday of Celine, when the French luxury brand debuted the “C Sulky Canvas,” its first signature canvas, and began expanding with locations in Geneva, Hong Kong and Beverly Hills.

Celine’s Triomphe logo took center stage on the bags featured on the runway, as did classic horse-bit hardware. This, combined with Slimane’s casual collection of jeans, blazers, and dresses was the definition of effortless Parisian chic.

Hermes

Structured totes and crossbodies were the cornerstone of the Hermes show in soft tan, black and white leather. Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s Spring collection also featured a new take on the boxy Cinhetic, initially introduced in the Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

Chanel

For the most part, Chanel kept it classic when it came to clothes and accessories – crossbodies, hobos and top handle bags featuring the iconic CC closure and its unmistakable quilted lamb leather also appeared in tweed and a couple other colors and skins. A cylinder wristlet with “Chanel” spelled out on the front using the brand’s classic metal and leather strap was one of the more playful bags to appear on the runway.

Balenciaga

A departure from recent logo-heavy designs, Demna Gvasalia’s focus for Balenciaga’s Spring 2020 collection is sleek and structured – tan and white leather bags with short straps, an embossed monogram black tote. There was also that stand out Hello Kitty top handle that is sure to delight Sanrio fans everywhere.
