With the release of the Supreme COVID-19 Relief Box Logo Tee, the brand has not only created what will likely be the most hype streetwear item of the year, they’ve done so for a good cause. With 100% of the proceeds going to HELP USA, this Supreme tee has become the most recent example of the brand’s use of their highly coveted logo for good. This marks the fourth time that they have taken the proceeds of their logo and donated them to charity, a practice that has become more and more normal for the brand. Read below to check out every time Supreme has released a Box Logo and donated the proceeds to a good cause.
Supreme Japan Relief Tee (2011)
Supreme’s first box logo for charity endeavor took place in 2011 after Japan was struck by a magnitude-9 earthquake. The catastrophic earthquake left hundreds of thousands of residents without homes and caused billions of dollars in financial damage. With four locations in Japan, it made sense that Supreme would try and give back in some way, shape, or form. The earthquake became the subject of Supreme’s first Relief Box Logo Tee, featuring Supreme’s notorious Futura Bold Italic font over the rising sun of the Japan Imperial Flag. All proceeds from this Supreme tee went to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
The Supreme Japan Relief Box Logo Tee is not offered as a part of the StockX catalogue.
Supreme Brooklyn Box Logo Tee (2017)
After a six year pause, Supreme returned to the box-logo-for-charity game, this time not with a relief tee but with a store opening box logo. As has become tradition, Supreme released a box logo tee alongside their opening of their Brooklyn location in 2017. This Supreme tee features the famous font set over a yellow camouflage pattern and has the store address and phone number on the back. Released shortly after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, the proceeds from the popular tee were donated to United for Puerto Rico.
Supreme San Francisco Box Logo Tee (2019)
2017 wouldn’t be the last time that a Supreme tee would result in the donation of proceeds to charity. The brand may be making that into a trend as they donated the proceeds of their 2019 San Francisco store opening Box Logo to charity as well. Supreme’s presence in San Francisco was welcomed with open arms and the brand was quick to give back, donating proceeds of the box logo tee to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation’s Harm Reduction Center.
Supreme COVID-19 Relief Box Logo Tee (2020)
Supreme’s COVID-19 Relief Box Logo Tee makes for their second official Relief Box Logo Tee and their fourth Box Logo Tee to donate its proceeds to charity. The Supreme tee released well into April of 2020, weeks after stay-at-home and social distancing orders were put in place all over the world. Proceeds from the tee went to HELP USA for the benefit of youth and families facing homelessness during the crisis. This tee stands out amongst the rest of the tees in this list mostly due to its collaboration with Takashi Murakami. This shirt marks the first time the two have come together on an apparel item and is without a doubt one of the most high-profile and hyped collaborations Supreme has released in years.
