A Supreme Covid-19 Relief Tee has been rumored to release for weeks now and this week the tee is officially coming – and it’s better than anyone could’ve expected. The Supreme Covid-19 Relief Tee features a collaboration with streetwear sweetheart, Takashi Murakami, and is everything a fan of the brand could possibly want from a box logo. Similar to the brand’s previous Relief Tees, the shirt features a unique Supreme Logo, setting the infamous Futura Bold Italic font over Murakami’s famous Skulls and Flowers Red artwork. Takashi Murakami is known for founding the ‘Superflat” art style. His work featured on the Supreme x Murakami Tee, Skulls and Flowers Red, was first shown in 2013. Proceeds from the tee will be donated to charity in support of youth and families facing homelessness during this crisis.
As for Supreme and Murakami, this tee marks the second time ever that the two have come together for a partnership. While the shirt makes for their first collaborative apparel endeavor, the Supreme x Murakami pairing has happened in the past when the two released three skate decks in 2007. The value of those decks are now astronomical, with full sets of the Supreme x Murakami decks selling for over $5,000 in recent years. This should come as no surprise to close followers of either brand, both of which have ravenous fanbases that are willing to pay a pretty penny for this kind of brand history. The Supreme x Murakami tee can expect the same kind of resale spike; we’ll check back in 13 years to see if it’s got a better or worse price premium than its skate deck counterpart.
