Supreme New York Sweater

Supreme is a New York brand through and through. New York the city the brand was founded in, it’s in Supreme’s URL, and the city’s DNA is deeply woven into every stitch of the brand’s identity. Every now and then Supreme releases a love letter, an ode of sorts, to their beloved hometown, and whether it be the Statue Of Liberty collaboration with The North Face, a partnership with the Yankees, or a simple t shirt, the brand’s New York dedicated items almost always become must-have momentos of the brand’s heritage.

The Supreme New York Sweater is the most recent addition to the brand’s dedicated odes to the city. The sweater is relatively simple, featuring the words “New York” in all caps on the front and Supreme in all caps on the back. The New York City skyline is knitted into the pattern which runs all the way around the bottom of the sweater. The design and logos are simple and refined, departing from the sometimes flashy nature of Supreme and their logo designs. The sweater’s colorways extend their hand in appreciation of their city as well, orange and blue likely pointing to the New York Knicks and white and black in reference to the Brooklyn Nets. The Supreme New York sweater is an absolute must-have for any long-time fan of the brand, and anyone who loves the city but can’t bear to wear an “I Love NY” t shirt.

This sweater joins the company of other classic New York centered pieces like the SS20 King Of New York tee which featured Christopher Walken’s character from the 1990 film. Others in this hallowed group include Supreme’s FW19 collaboration with The North Face, which features a Statue Of Liberty design, saluting the brand’s home city. Maybe most similar to this sweater is Supreme’s SS20 New York Painted Trucker Jacket which also features a skyline of the city, this time painted instead of  knitted. Both the Sweater and the Painted Trucker Jacket also feature the inclusion of the Twin Towers, a historic staple of the city’s identity.

The Supreme New York Sweater released on Thursday, February 20th, 2020 alongside matching Supreme New York Beanies and retailed for $148 USD. Shop all three colorways on StockX below!
