As we near the end of August and temperatures begin to drop, streetwear’s true titan, Supreme, has returned for their Fall/Winter season. On Monday, August 17th, Supreme released their seasonal preview and lookbook to a warm reception. The immediate standout item of the season is the Cross Box Logo, which is actually two box logos, one vertical and the other horizontal, laid on top of each other creating a cross. This comes as the latest iteration of the incredibly popular Supreme box logo, one that has never been seen before. Beyond the new Box Logo hype, Supreme Fall Winter 2020 has a lot in store for us, from waterproof playing cards to a new photo t-shirt, to a massive Mortal Kombat arcade game. We’ve broken down our favorite items from the season’s Week 1 release below and we’ll be highlighting our favorite pieces of each week for the rest of the season through our Supreme Pick Of The Week Series. Supreme Fall Winter 2020 Accessories
Every season Supreme does things the exact same way and every season we react with the same level of anticipation. As the new season approached we waited with impatient anticipation for the lineup of FW20 Supreme accessories to be announced. As far as accessories go and as far as we can tell, Week 1 is the most exciting release of the season, promising multiple new items and a free gift. Supreme Fall Winter 2020 Week 1 was no exception and delivered on its promise of new accessories in abundance. The highlight of the drop was the Supreme Bicycle Playing Card Deck which is perhaps the most desirable accessory of the season. The cards are durable and waterproof, making for a perfect coffee table accessory while not in use and excellent for entertainment when it’s time for poker, euchre, solitaire, Oh Hell, or whatever other card games you like. Get two decks for Pinochle. Supreme also dropped another water bottle, a projector, two colors of a headlamp, and dollar bill covered basketball with Spalding. T-shirts From Week 1
Nearly as anticipated as the accessories in Week 1 are the new Supreme T-shirts that come with the first drop of every season. The Supreme Fall Winter 2020 T-shirt line up did not disappoint, delivering a new photo t-shirt, a Futura Collaboration, and the very tongue-in-cheek Verify T-shirt. While photo t-shirts traditionally steal the show, this season the Verify t-shirt took the cake. The shirt features Supreme at the center of the security verification prompt they use at checkout to be sure their users aren’t bots, which of course works really well every single time. The shirt shows once again just how self-aware the brand is as they play into the joke yet again. Ironically, there are likely many who struck out on the Verify t-shirt because they themselves were too slow to verify their own humanity. Beyond the Verify T-shirt, Supreme’s new photo tee features Grammy-winning American Saxophonist, Pharoah Sanders. Supreme released seven other t-shirts as a part of FW20 Week 1 including the Balloon T-shirt on which there’s a graphic spelling out Supreme in balloons and the Nuova York T-shirt which spells out New York, United States in Italian under the word “Supreme.” Shop a selection of the Supreme T-shirts dropped in FW20 Week 1 below and all of them on StockX here.
Supreme Fall Winter 2020 Bags
Supreme’s FW20 Week 1 release was one for the books. Between the t-shirts and accessories alone Supreme had already done better than some of their more recent opening weeks, but their line of bags took the drop to a whole new level. Sometimes it seems like Supreme is too much in their bag, adding details that are unnecessary; but not this season. The brand kept it simple this time around, dropping solid colored backpacks in black, green, and red as well as a cheetah print version for anyone who likes their bags a little spicy. The 21L Backpacks will make for an easy-to-wear and functional bag and the inclusion of a 25L Tote is an excellent choice for anyone who prefers a big bag over the shoulder instead on the back. While not exactly a hit item, the Zip Tote provides massive utility for a tote bag including features like a pocket on the outside and the ability to zip it shut all the way. Supreme also dropped a number of smaller bags including a new waist bag, neck pouch, and sling bag for over the shoulder. Supreme x The Smurfs
Supreme x The Smurfs has actually happened, or at least it’s started to. The first pieces to release this season from the collaboration came as a part of the brand’s FW20 Week 1 drop. The items we’ve seen so far have not been the hits expected of most Supreme collaborations but that’s okay; we know for a fact that there’s more to come in the weeks ahead. While the jackets and jeans are really cool, we’re hopeful for a drop filled with t-shirts, hoodies, and maybe even a knit sweater of some kind to really get our blue on. More To Come With Futura?
Shortly before Supreme showed us their FW20 preview and lookbook, a rumor started circulating that we would see another Supreme x Futura collaboration. Supreme confirmed this rumor with the release of that preview which featured the resurrection of the Supreme Futura Logo. While many were hoping for a reissue of the extremely rare Futura x Supreme box logo, the t-shirt they just dropped will likely satisfy appetites for now. For now, only the t-shirt has been announced and released but we’re hoping that Supreme does something similar to their Rammellzee collaboration from last season and returns later this fall with a full Futura collaboration, or at least just a hoodie. Supreme Fall Winter 2020 Skate Decks
Though we now classify skate decks collectibles, Supreme dropped three new noteworthy decks as a part of their FW20 Week 1 release. The real eye-catcher is the Supreme Camo Logo Skate Deck. The decks dropped in four colors, all of which feature a colored camo Supreme logo set against the same camo, creating an optical illusion that makes it look as if the word ‘Supreme’ is raised up off the board. The second Supreme Skate Deck released as a part of Week 1 was the Jet Skateboard set, which features three different crashing fighter jets set against a different color background.
