What influences you?
I’m influenced by a lot of Motown, a lot of oldies, and a lot of real Soul. And positive energy.
What’s the most overrated?
Individuality, as far as clout is concerned. I really feel like that’s overrated because clout should be shared. Don’t feel proud that you did something and you’re getting attention on your own, bring your people with you. It should be a unity thing.
What’s the most underrated?
Stage presence is underrated. You really need to be able to put on a great show; you need to be able to put on for the audience. I don’t think people really pay attention to that aspect of their career.
What are you excited about, right now?
I am most excited about live shows that I have coming up. I’m performing a lot this summer. I’m ready to show the world what I’ve got. And, I got a shout-out from Elton John. I’m really excited about that!
What’s next for you?
I’ve been tweaking my sound. I’m getting more into hip-hop and R&B. I’m slowly turning the alternative, modern Motown sound toward those genres. I’ve been working at Heaven Studios with Kid Vishis developing this new sound.

I think we wanted it to be five and it was.
