This article is part 14 of 14 in the series: Five Years Of StockX

Only three weeks into her job as Director & GM of Australia and New Zealand, Kelly Godfrey is busy preparing for the launch of operations in Melbourne, Australia. As part of StockX’s five-year anniversary celebration, we caught up with team members, including Kelly, to talk about life as a StockX team member.

The following has been lightly edited.

How did you hear about Stock, and why did you want to join the team?

I first heard about StockX when a former colleague started working here a few years back, and I was like, “Wow, what a brilliant idea!”

What is the most exciting aspect of working at StockX?

Getting to work with so many smart people at the cutting edges of culture, technology, and e-commerce.

Your most memorable day on the job?

It’s only been three weeks! But so far, it was meeting the Australia team who will be powering our ops from Melbourne.

What’s been the most surprising part of your job at StockX?

The enormity of the logistics and the models we’ve built to optimize the business around it – mind-boggling!

How will the secondary market change in the next five years?

I’m passionate about sustainability and believe Earth pressures will influence design and consumption trends at a more macro level. For designers, how can they make something valuable from what was previously thought of as “waste”—Adidas partnership with Parley Ocean Plastic—and for conscious consumers, it might be less about buying “fast fashion” and more about highly curating a style with more appreciation of value over the long term—pushing people from Amazon to StockX.
