Ever since StockX launched in 2016, we have set out to create a safe space for buying and selling collectible items like Jordan 1 Highs and Supreme Box Logos, but also to remove any gatekeeping surrounding these products. As a company, we’re all about transparency, providing as much insight about the items we work with and clarity to the prices we share with our customers all over the world. With transparency as our brand ethos, we look toward working with partners that share a similar mission statement in their respective fields. Our StockX Skateboarding team is a prime example of that openness and honesty. Skaters Robert Neal, Briana King, Zion Wright, and Alex Midler each look to cast a wider net for skateboarding, and get as many people involved with the action sport as possible, and also stay fitted in the looks that come with it.

This year, we sent our skaters to Copenhagen for the annual CPH Open, a week-long skateboarding competition filled with professional skateboarders and fans of the sport from around the globe. For skater Alex Midler, skateboarding overseas is more than just performing tricks, but is all about connection. “It’s amazing to experience different cities and spots than I’m used to in California,” says Midler. “It’s crazy how I can travel anywhere in the world and connect with people from different countries just based off of the love we have for skateboarding.”

Creating new experiences and meeting new people is one of the most important aspects of skateboarding for skaters like Midler and the rest of our skate team. “You’ll always have an instant connection to a completely new environment and new people just because of a board,” says Briana King, fellow team member on the StockX Skate Team. She continues saying, “Life is about community. We need the energy of others to learn, grow, and be happy. StockX has created multiple uplifting events for us to come together and do what we love.”

For StockX and the StockX skate team, it’s all about making skateboarding more inclusive to the people around them. That’s part of how the team has come together: not only is the team representative of different backgrounds and experiences, but they also are at the forefront of challenging the industry to be more inclusive. Briana King is always looking to deepen representation in the sport, and while there’s still work to do, we’re proud to help her do it. When considering what else we could to do make the representation within the industry more inclusive she says, “I would’ve said ‘More events that are focused on women’ but [StockX has] let me use the park to do this. We’re working together on what needs to be done, it’s a team effort.”

The CPH Open also coincides with Go Skate Day, an international annual event made to promote people of all ages to skate. While in Copenhagen, StockX will have an activation in collaboration with NOORD Skateparks in Amsterdam. There, we will open free admission to young skaters to enter, allowing them to skate with some of our team members, while picking up some tips and tricks. Activations like this allow for a perfect merger between communities and StockX as a whole. Introducing our skaters to a younger generation and helping that generation develop their confidence in skating aligns with StockX’s drive for inclusivity.

As we continue our pursuit towards being an open marketplace for all, we will continue to support initiatives that drive our core values. Transparency, accessibility, and growth are just a few of the many values that we cherish as a brand, and by working together with our skate team, we hope to spread that message wherever we drop in.
