The Supreme x AKIRA collaboration was a large effort consisting of mixture of apparel, headwear and accessories. The Supreme AKIRA Pill Tee is one of four different short-sleeved tees fans of the brands had a choice of purchasing, each multiple colorways. Created by Katsuhiro Otomo, AKIRA takes place in a post-World War III Tokyo that is dealing with issues like anti-government terror and drugs. The latter being both government issued and created in the streets. But the drugs given had other usages besides getting rid of headaches. It was used for controlling humans with super powers that were under government control, sort of. The original manga artwork used here shows one of the main character’s attitude towards the pills he’s taking. Throughout the story he experiences changes through his mind and body. On the front of the slate cotton tee we see Supreme added in simple capitalized, bold font. On the back is where we see the original artwork added in all its black and white glory. If you look real close you can see some small modifications Supreme added to put their own spin on it. The Supreme AKIRA Pill Tee released online and in most Supreme brick-and-mortar locations on November 2nd, 2017.
