Nike KD 5

Released in 2012, the Nike KD 5 was noticeably different from all Kevin Durant signature sneakers that came before it. For starters, Nike decided to remove the word "Zoom" from the name of the sneaker and relied on Durant's initials to carry it. The company also created a true high-top sneaker for Durant for the first time with the KD 5. Interestingly, the KD 5 was the first signature shoe from Durant that cost over $100, as he had been adamant about keeping the price tags on his sneakers as low as possible since the start of his NBA career.

Nike made sure people would get their money’s worth when they purchased the Nike KD 5, though. It featured an upper constructed out of a blend of Hyperfuse and synthetic materials. It also included Zoom Air cushioning and Max Air technology, which made it one of the most responsive KD signature sneakers up until that point. And just like all the KD sneakers that came both before and after it, the KD 5 was released in a wide array of colorways.

On the court, Durant often wore the Nike KD 5 Home and the Nike KD 5 Away, which were created to match the Oklahoma City Thunder’s uniforms. KD was still a member of the Thunder at that time. But Nike also introduced more off-the-wall colorways, like the Nike KD 5 DMV. It helped the KD 5 start to stand out even more than it already did.

It’s been more than a decade since Nike welcomed the KD 5 into the world, but it continues to turn heads and StockX has lots of Nike KD 5 options to choose from. Check them out and pick the design that works for you.
