The Campless Price Guide is based on eBay data. We have over 13 million eBay sneaker auctions in our database and add more every day. But as we’ve said before, we estimate that eBay is only one-quarter of the entire resell market.
Today, for the first time, we share sneaker sales data from a non-eBay reseller: OS Life
Fresh off their 5-year anniversary celebration, owner Eric Keas (@EMKEAS) was kind enough to share his data with us. We asked Eric for a few words about OS Life. This is what he said:
At OS Life we never strived to have the rarest or most expensive shoes, but we did strive to have the best prices on almost everything we sell. The goal was to offer good shoes at lower than market prices so that would hopefully help bring down prices on the resell market. A sneakerhead isn’t defined about how hype or rare his shoe is but rather his passion for that shoe and we just wanted to help others have a better chance to get what they might not be able to afford.
Well said. The line we like the most was, “The goal was to offer good shoes at lower than market prices” – because that’s something we can test.
Comparison Methodology:
- OS Life 2013 sales for mens, deadstock sneakers
- Exclude OS Life sales for sneakers not tracked by Campless, including GS, samples and used
Key Insights:
- OS Life pricing is less expensive than the market
- Average price of OS Life sneakers was lower than Campless for 10 out of 12 months
April and May were the only two months that OS Life was not significantly cheaper than Campless. On closer examination, however, we see this difference is primarily caused by seven GR sneakers:
If you eliminated these 7 sneakers, OS Life would have a perfect 12 month sweep. The point is pretty clear: OS Life has good pricing.
