I can already hear the comments now: “Knitwear? In the summer? Y’all trippin’.” But hear me out. There are times when knitwear is actually the perfect addition to a summer look. And, of course, we’re not talking about Woolrich-level, thick boy-knitted sweaters that pair well with hot cocoa. These knitted pieces are extremely light, breathable, and, above all, tasteful for the season. Take a look at our picks for the best knitwear of the summer in our latest lookbook installment.
Jacquemus La Maille Pralu Micro Charm Logo Cardigan
If you’ve been reading our past Summer editorials, you probably noticed Jacquemus is one of our favorite brands for the summer. The brand just knows how to market itself for the summer and this Jacquemus cardigan helps bring the escalated vibes that you might be looking for. Its subtle “Jacquemus” branding on the charm closure delivers a touch of luxury, while its soft and light cotton construction makes it a great choice for summer nights out.
Jacquemus La Maille Concha Asymmetric Bead Knit Top & Striped Skirt
Another standout knitted piece from Jacquemus is this vibrant pink ensemble. Its asymmetric design on both the top and skirt gives it a unique look compared to other dresses and the various shades of pink make it an easy eye-catcher. Both pieces’ rib knit construction add a layering effect to the look and its stretch nylon blend material bring comfort and form to the body seamlessly.
Supreme Brushed Checkerboard Cardigan
Unsure if this is a hot take or not, but Supreme’s more subtle pieces tend to be nicer than their loud graphics and this cardigan proves that less is sometimes more. The Supreme Brushed Checkerboard Cardigan isn’t your typical heavyweight mohair cardigan. It’s actually really airy. I wore this cardigan on a summer day in California and felt like it was the perfect addition to my ‘fit and didn’t sweat in it at all. And the fact that it’s a cardigan lets you leave it as open or buttoned up as you want. It also comes in a variety of colors too for those looking for something brighter.
Supreme Beaded Sweater Vest
Another great knitted Supreme piece is this beaded sweater vest from their latest collection. This isn’t your regular granddad’s sweater vest either. It’s extremely loose-knitted, making it very light and perfect for just wearing with or without a tee underneath. The beads also add a nice contrasting pop of color to the brown knitted material, which kinda reminds me of 1980s Jamaican dancehall styles.
Aimé Leon Dore Knit Cycling Jersey
Who would’ve thought that cycling would be a sport to be inspired by? Well, Aimé Leon Dore obviously sees something that most haven’t and I’m glad they did. Their Knit Cycling Jersey is their latest piece from their Spring/Summer collection and it was one of their most highlighted for its unique nature. I’m from the era of oversized NBA and MLB jerseys being worn with baggy jean shorts and white Air Force 1s, never thought ONCE about rocking a cycling jersey. But times have changed and so have my taste and I can easily say, this knitted piece has made me a convert.
Kith Wilson Essex Sweater Polo
Speaking of sports being trendy, tenniscore is becoming a thing now. If you’re not familiar, it’s basically wearing what one would rock to an upscale sports club or to Wimbledon. Think white on white everything, from the stereotypical v-neck sweater to 6-inch high shorts. This summer, Kith delivered their take on the racquet sport trend with their ongoing collaboration with Wilson. The two introduced this sweater polo that is clean, comfortable, and ready for a few swings on the court with its quick dry material.
