The StockX Shopify App has always matched your products to your catalog automatically by GTIN/UPC or by Style ID and size. If a product had neither, it stayed unmatched and off StockX.
Today, we’re fixing that problem with Shopify Smart Matching: a third matching method that surfaces your previously unmatched products with suggested catalog matches for you to review and approve. One click, and they’re live on StockX.
How Product Matching Works
- Method 1 – GTIN/UPC (Automatic) – Products with a GTIN in your Shopify barcode field are matched and listed instantly, no action needed.
- Method 2 – Style ID + Size (Automatic) – Products with a StockX Style ID metafield and correct size chart are matched and listed instantly, no action needed.
- (NEW) Method 3 – Smart Matching (Manual Review & Approval) – Products that were not able to match by GTIN or Style ID will now appear in your Map Products queue with suggested StockX catalog matches. You review, select the right product, and approve – then it goes live.
Products with valid GTINs or StyleIDs continue to auto-match. Smart Matching will only apply to inventory that previously had nowhere to go.
The Map Products Interface
Navigate to Inventory Matching > Map Products in the StockX App to find your review queue. This is where you will be able to approve or reject suggested matches. If the suggested match isn’t right, you can manually search the StockX catalog and select the correct product before approving. Nothing publishes without your sign-off.
Why This Matters
Every unmatched product is inventory that isn’t reaching StockX’s 30M+ monthly visitors. Sellers running multi-brand stores or working with products that have inconsistent GTIN data have seen meaningful gaps in their StockX catalog. Smart Matching closes those gaps without sacrificing accuracy, because every match still requires your approval before it goes live.
