To celebrate StockX's fifth anniversary, we met up with team members from around the globe to learn more about their experiences being on the StockX team.

This article is part 11 of 14 in the series: Five Years Of StockX

Mattia Rinieri is a Growth Analyst and Italian Marketing Manager based out of StockX’s London office. Since joining the team in the summer of 2019, Mattia has played a pivotal role in developing the platform experience for Italian StockX users. As part of StockX’s five-year anniversary celebration, we caught up with team members, including Mattia, to talk about life as a StockX team member.

The following has been lightly edited.

How did you hear about StockX, and why did you want to join the team?

The first time I heard about StockX was in 2015 when I watched Josh Luber’s famous TED Talk. At that time, I was an undergraduate exchange student in Singapore writing my thesis on Nike’s winning strategy in sneakers. I was already a sneakerhead. I decided to include a chapter about the reselling market explaining how the market was unregulated and how StockX and Flip were trying to become an institution and solve the secondary market’s inefficiency. I wanted to become part of the team because streetwear and sneakers have always been my passions, and StockX was changing the rules of the game. Plus, I wanted to join a truly innovative company on the rise.

What is the most exciting aspect of working at StockX?

Having the possibility of doing cool projects and being innovative in the sneakers and streetwear space.

Your most memorable day on the job?

Not a day, in particular, more a long weekend: StockXchange Paris 2019 weekend. The greatest memory from that weekend was Jamie Delaney in the club, living his best life.

What’s been the most surprising part of your job at StockX?

The opportunity to make an impact in the company since my first week on the job.

How do you think the secondary market will change in the next 5 years?

More product categories will populate the secondary market—basically what happened with gaming consoles late last year. The secondary market will be even more prominent as conscious consumers bring back old trends.
