What influences you?
My musical influences are very wide-ranging. They include The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Britney Spears. I always liked Timbaland and Pharrell as producers growing up. As far as writing, I liked Dr. Seuss and Malcolm Gladwell.
To be honest, I don’t really have a lot of influences when it comes to my sense of style. I’m just inspired by my past. I like to wear things that are colorful and that feel nostalgic. Like when I was a toddler, everything I wore was baggy and all bright colors. I used to have a bowl cut when I was young. Everything was just pure and I used to dress up in costumes and mix-and-match Halloween costumes. I really don’t look up to anyone. I’m just inspired by youth.
Maybe music videos. I feel like people have been slacking with their content. In general, I feel like new music is lacking a little bit. I feel like people are more quantity-driven than quality-driven with their music.
I don’t necessarily know if this is underrated, but movies. There’s a huge market of independent movies and lower-budget movies coming out with brand new directors and young people involved in the process that are super good. For instance, everything that A24 is putting out is super good. I think there’s a revolution in movies coming.
What are you most excited about, right now?
I’m excited to put out more content. I’m working on an album. I’m just really excited to finish the album and put it out.
What’s next for you?
Right now I’m just really focusing on this tour, finishing this run through the United States and then we’re playing some festivals in South America. It’ll be my first time in South America. I’m really excited.
Bonus Question: Was that five?
Yeah. That was five.
