Nike Air Max

The Nike Air Max was designed by Tinker Hatfield, who found his inspiration for the inaugural design in the architecture of the Center Pompidou. From the building's inside-out approach, with its structure twisted around the exterior, he came up with the idea to expose the inner workings of the shoe.

The first colorway of the Nike Air Max was released in 1987 with a white/red color scheme. It has since been succeeded by several iterations, notably the Air Max 180 (1991), Air Max Plus 98, Air Max 360 (2006), Air VaporMax (2017), and Air Max Scorpion (2022). The uppers for varying Nike Air Max iterations are made of varying materials. For example, the Nike Air Max 97 Triple Black features a mesh upper blended with leather. In contrast, the Nike Air VaporMax 2021 FK White Black Metallic Silver features a FlyKnit upper with supportive elastic overlays. Underfoot, the size, design, and number of Air units vary within the product line. For example, all Retro Air Max 1 have a single unit under the heel, while in all Retro Air Max 97, the entire midsole is made up of Air units.

What we love the most about the Nike Air Max collection is the Nike Air technology it takes advantage of. The Air Units visible on all the units deliver elite cushioning for the average shoe owner, improve the performance of athletes in various sports, and provide next-level impact protection to all.

Besides elite Air Max sneakers, there are plenty of superb Nike apparel you can pair with your sneakers. From jerseys like Nike Chelsea F.C. Air Max Men's Shirt to hats like Supreme Nike Air Max Running Hat Snakeskin, Nike has you covered.
