Investing in KAWS can be intimidating. Over a 20+ year career, the Brooklyn-based artist has released hundreds of collectibles, spanning from general release items you can pick up for under $50, to limited edition releases that can run into the tens of thousands. Part of the KAWS appeal, however, is his ability to release items that are affordable at all budgets – meaning anyone can become an art investor.

At StockX, we’re here to help teach you how to invest in KAWS at every price point. From under $110 to over $5,000, you can get started today regardless of your budget.

KAWS Under $100

How to Invest in KAWS - a Beginner’s Guide - Uniqlo Snoopy Plush

While $100 may not seem like a lot to invest in KAWS, part of the artist’s uniqueness is his ability to release products at every price point. For under $100 you choose from dozens of unique items including keychains, pins, and books. However, we recommend the KAWS x Uniqlo Plushes (both Sesame Street & Peanuts) along with the KAWS Puzzles that were released exclusively at NGV. If you put it together, you can even frame it and hang it on your wall, which is a far cheaper alternative than a print.

$100 – 500

The $100 – $500 range has been a sweet spot for KAWS, as most of his vinyl and plush releases fall within this range. While that doesn’t include all of his hottest figures, you can get any color of the Holiday Taipei Figure, Small Lie Figure, or Holiday Japan Figure. You can also grab a Blue or Black BFF Vinyl Figure – one of the fan favorite characters from the KAWS lineup. Needless to say, the $100 – $500 price range is a great range to start investing in KAWS.

$500 – $1,000

Once you’re in the $500 – $1,000 bracket, you can really start to attain some of the best KAWS pieces in recent years. Two figures stand out – the GONE Figure (2019) and Together (2018). Both of these are highly sought after toys where you should be able to get the figure and color of your choice for under $1,000.

$1,000 – $5,000

If you want to get a truly limited KAWS piece from the archives, you can absolutely do so with a $1,000 to $5,000 budget. One of the most popular figures in this range is Resting Place from 2013, which like most KAWS figures comes in three different colors. Another favorite is the Joe KAWS Snoopy Figure (from 2011) which came long before the much less limited Uniqlo x Peanuts collaboration that released six years later in 2017.
