This article is part 113 of 109 in the series: StockX Pick Of The Week

Supreme is relatively predictable. While we generally donā€™t know exactly what’s going to drop until a few days before it happens, we do know that there will almost always be a drop on Thursdays and we do know that each and every season the brand is likely to deliver new Box Logos and at least one The North Face collaboration. This season, Supreme has delivered two The North Face collaborations, the first released in March, and the second is releasing this week. The latest collection features one of Supreme and The North Faceā€™s strongest offerings in several seasons as it includes exciting new jackets and pants as well as highly-anticipated t-shirts. The clear highlight is the Supreme x The North Face Trekking Convertible Jacket which, as its name suggests, provides a level of customization and versatility that make it worthy of this weekā€™s selection as the StockX Pick of the Week.

Supremeā€™s long standing and on-going collaboration with The North Face has always pushed the boundaries of the outerwear brandā€™s offerings. Traditionally done through prints, the New York Streetwear brand has made their collaborative efforts with The North Face a seasonal event that hardcore fans and casual observers wait on with eager anticipation. This most recent collaboration pulls together the power of prints, that would traditionally be unorthodox for The North Face, and customizability that encourages flexibility in the Trekking Convertible Jacket.

Made available in three different colors, two of which are pretty traditional, the Supreme x The North Face Trekking Convertible Jacket makes the case for outerwear that can be worn almost year round in most climates. The jacketā€™s customizable design is made simple through a stowable hood and zip-off sleeves in two places on the arms: the elbow and the shoulder. This allows the jacket to morph and mutate as the wearer sees fit, most likely shapeshifting in order to fit the dayā€™s weather forecast. Made from a recycled water resistant nylon, this jacket keeps the wearer comfortable in the rain and its lightweight nature means it won’t add too much weight on warmer, more humid days.

The third colorway of the Supreme x The North Face Trekking Convertible Jacket features a colorful flower-covered print that looks like a crayon sketch while also giving impressionist references. Though the other two colorways of this jacket were delivered in more mere shades black and white, the more colorful print of this jacket provides a look at the softer side of the brand. While it is possible that theyā€™re just delivering a groundbreaking floral print for the Spring/Summer season (Miranda Priestly would gush), itā€™s also possible that Supreme is leaning into the softer more inclusive narrative thatā€™s permeated the world of menswear.

This collection juxtaposes the Supreme The North Face Trekking Convertible Jacketā€™s colorful floral print with t-shirts and hoodies that feature one of the New York apparel brandā€™s most used patterns: bandana. Hardcore Supreme fans will likely find the inclusion of a bandana print in this collection to be nostalgic. In the Fall/Winter season of 2014, Supreme and The North Face released their Bandana Print collection, which featured jackets covered in different colors of the print. That release, made available right at the peak of Supremeā€™s unmatched popularity in the last decade, is widely regarded as one of Supremeā€™s most iconic drops and the partnershipā€™s emblematic deliveries.

For this collection, the bandana print appears on t-shirts and hoodies, playing second to the crayon-sketched floral print that covers the jackets. This release seems like both a nod toward the future and an honoring of the past, pulling together the historically significant print with something altogether new for the partnership. We may be seeing the era of Supremeā€™s bandana print transitioning into something softer.

The Supreme x The North Face Trekking Convertible Jacket was released on June 9th, 2022, at the retail price of $299 and is available on StockX below.
