To celebrate StockX's fifth anniversary, we met up with team members from around the globe to learn more about their experiences being on the StockX team.

This article is part 9 of 14 in the series: Five Years Of StockX

Squid is a Customer Service Team Captain who is based out of StockX’s Detroit headquarters. Since joining the team in the fall of 2018, Squid has played a major role in supporting StockX’s Buyers and Sellers. As part of StockX’s five-year anniversary celebration, we caught up with team members, including Squid, to talk about life as a StockX team member.

The following interview has been lightly edited.

How did you hear about StockX, and why did you want to become part of the team?

I heard about StockX from the sneaker community because I’m a part of that community. I love sneakers, and they’ve been central to my life since I was a baby. I wanted to join the StockX team because I’m a part of that culture and felt like I could be a great addition to the type of company StockX was building.

What is the most exciting aspect of working at StockX?

The most exciting thing about working at StockX is the amazing people you meet there, knowing most of you share the same passion. Whether it’s clothes, shoes, or vinyls, we can all relate to those things.

Your most memorable day on the job?

The most memorable day on the job was when we had a giant ice cream bar at work. That was fun. When we were in office, they made sure that we had special days

What’s been the most surprising part of your job at StockX?

The most surprising thing is how supportive the company has been with real-world issues. They’re for the culture. They’ve been really giving us the space to voice our opinion, especially supporting Black people.

In what ways do you think the secondary market will change in the next 5 years?

I want StockX to grow and expand, be more user-friendly and have more freedom about we show items. I would love to see us grow and start putting more of our own products on the site—doing collabs with other creators and making the collabs more accessible. I love for the employees to also be more involved with content as influencers and culture creators rather than just always working with people outside of the company. StockX is the staple of everything and we just need to keep adding these creative pillars that will keep us on top to continue to be the #1 marketplace
