As a universal symbol that communicates good vibes and a carefree lifestyle, the smiley face remains a safe cultural touchpoint. drew house, a newer brand on StockX, is one of the more popular brands to make an emblem out of the smiley face in the last few years. Recently, drew house dropped several new apparel pieces featuring what they call the “mascot logo” and their hoodie from the release is this week’s StockX Pick of the Week.
drew house opened their doors in late 2018 with the release of just one product, a $4.99 pair of house slippers that sold out immediately. The slippers featured a small yellow smiley face logo that replaced the face’s mouth with the word, “drew”. Not long after the release of those slippers, drew house began to release apparel and dubbed their smiley face, the “mascot logo”.
In the three years since its conception, drew house has become a powerhouse. With massive support from Justin Bieber, who quietly co-owns the brand, drew house’s releases sell out in seconds. Pieces that feature the prominent drew house mascot logo are always the first to sell out and always fetch the best prices on the resale market.
This particular hoodie was released in late September of this year as a part of the brand’s first release of the fall season. The drop included just ten new products including hoodies, t-shirts, tote bags, and slippers. The drew house mascot logo hoodie released in three colors and a matching t-shirt featuring the logo also dropped. The cream colorway of this hoodie features the mascot logo front and center on the chest with a small logo printed on the left arm.
Earlier this year, drew house was added to the StockX catalog, and since then it’s quickly become one of the biggest new brands on the marketplace. The mascot logo, unquestionably the brand’s most popular graphic, is featured on the nine of the top ten drew house products available on StockX. All drew house mascot hoodies have been profitable on the resale market as well, averaging price premiums between 30% and 100%.
Though drew house isn’t the only brand to attach themselves to the smiley face, they may be the brand with the most cultural cachet at this moment. Until recently, this was relatively debatable but between Justin Bieber’s consistent repping of drew house and other competitors fading from the spotlight, it would seem that they’ve got the logo locked down.
