Atlanta-based songwriter, singer, and dancer Usher, born Usher Raymond IV, is one of the millennium’s major R&B stars whose influence has had a large impact on the genre. Getting his start as a youth in the 1990s, Usher’s first two albums were released when he was only a teen. 1997’s My Way saw Usher top the charts for the first time.
Having cut his teeth in the music business at a young age, Usher’s first release of the 2000s, 2001’s 8701, achieved two number-one singles and a top-three single. However, this was just a step along the road to success, as 2004’s Confessions catapulted Usher to becoming one of the top-selling recording artists of the 2000s. Confessions’ history includes the release of four consecutive number-one singles, including "Yeah!," "Burn," and "Confessions Part II," which are tracks that gave Usher exposure on radio and in music videos all over the world. In keeping with Usher’s development of a massive fan base, his debut album, 1997’s My Way, was re-released as a 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, a double LP pressed on on Cloudy Silver vinyl.
Usher has maintained his presence in the celebrity stratosphere for over a quarter-century, continuing to make waves for his confrontational songs, dancing prowess, and personal style. Usher made waves at the 2024 Met Gala for his all-black caped ensemble. With so much exposure and longevity, it’s no surprise that Usher’s image, capturing his iconic 8701 eras, has even been rendered as a Funko Pop! collectible figure.
