Product Description

In the late 80s, the business of sneakers was a far cry from what it is today but looking back, shoes like the Air Jordan III "Fire Red" from 1988 were a sign of things to come. As the story goes, Michael Jordan was considering leaving Nike for another company. Tinker Hatfield was tasked with making the next sneaker in the Air Jordan lineage for MJ, taking into account that MJ wanted something that was a lower cut than previous high-top models and of course, something that looked good both on and off the court. Thankfully for all the sneakerheads in the world, Michael liked the Air Jordan III design enough to stick with Nike and essentially, Tinker Hatfield became somewhat of sneakerhead superhero. One of the original colorways that Michael Jordan wore as a member of the Chicago Bulls is the "Fire Red" colorway. Back in 1988, the Nike Air was the only logo for the heel tab and the iconic "Jumpman" logo made its debut on the tongue of this classic sneaker. Unlike the other Jordan 3 original colorways, the Fire Red features a much darker "Elephant Print" color surrounding the toe box and heel area. Despite the slight difference, the OG Fire Red III became one of the most important sneakers in history thanks to Michael Jordan’s performance wearing the shoe. The White and Fire Red Air Jordan III that released in 1988 wouldn’t be seen again until 2007 and finding a pair that has yet to crumble or be destroyed from wearing is becoming increasingly more challenging every day.
