Product Description
The New Balance 2002R Mule Phantom has taken the 2002R running shoe silhouette and re-created it as a comfortable slide-on lifestyle shoe without a heel or laces.
The Phantom colorway of the New Balance 2002R Mule features an upper that begins with a base of black mesh. From the abbreviated heel counter to the side panel to the toe cap, black suede overlays adorn the upper. Gray leather overlays accent the toe box, and a gray mesh N outlined in white graces the side panel. In place of a tongue and laces, a black mesh panel is overlaid with perforated black suede that features a patch with New Balance Running branding. The sock liner is soft gray textile, and the insole features ghostly NB branding.
What we enjoy most about this modified running sneaker is the consistency of the sole unit. An ABZORB midsole provides cushioning and energy return, while Stability Web technology provides arch support. Black rubber pods on the outsole are lugged for traction and add to the sneaker’s ability to absorb impact with every step. The New Balance 2002R Mule Phantom was released on December 20, 2022, for $140 retail.
