The Moon Particle colorway of the Air Max 1 with an Out Swoosh features an upper with a base of breathable black mesh overlaid with suede in various shades of gray. This suede sports a pattern of repeating cubes that gives the overlays a three-dimensional look. Gray textile with a snakeskin pattern adorns the midfoot, heel, and padded collar. Bright red contrasts this upper with hits at the upper eye stays and Nike Air branding on the heel. Pale gray foam at the midsole offers a soft landing and encapsulates a visible cassette of springy Air, while a brown-gray rubber outsole with grooves and waffle lugs provides traction.
