The Nike Air Max 270 Throwback Future was released as part of the Air Max collection in addition to the Air Max 270 line which had made its debut back in 2018. The name Throwback Future takes inspiration from the futuristic design elements on the shoe that reference Air Max models of the past.

The shoe features a predominantly black upper with striking accents of iridescent colors that add to the aesthetic. These accents change colors when reflected by light from different angles adding to the futuristic look - hence the name. The shoe is constructed from a combination of synthetic materials, including mesh with a rubber sole, which contains an Air Max unit that extends from the heel to the forefoot. Other distinct features on the shoe is the unique Air270 logo which appears on the heel and tongue.

The Nike Air Max 270 Throwback Future was released for retail on March 21, 2019 priced at $150.
