As one of the most important sneakers in Seattle Supersonics history, the Reebok Kamikaze II "Sonics" could not be a more appropriate retro colorway. Back in 1995, Seattle was led by Shawn Kemp who was given the nickname, "The Reign Man" by legendary Seattle broadcaster Kevin Calabro. Of course, the wet weather and rainy days in Seattle helped make this nickname stick with Kemp through the years and even inspired colorways of his signature sneakers from Reebok. The "Sonics" Kamikaze II is one that uses rain as an inspiration quite literally. The white, green, yellow and black are obviously a tie to the Seattle Supersonics franchise that used to be. But a closer look at this "Sonics" colorway reveals some interesting details. The semi-metallic green wave on the upper actually features droplets of "water" to give the impression that the shoes are wet from rain. A green with yellow speckled midsole sections add some additional pop to the otherwise white midsole wrapped in a green outsole. A black lining, tongue and pull tab break up the white and green upper while the yellow accents from Sonics’ glory days give just the right amount of nostalgia. Although the Seattle franchise is no longer, shoes like the Reebok Kamikaze II "Sonics" will help fans and sneaker enthusiasts remember the golden era of Seattle basketball.
