Product Description

The inspiration for the Reebok Kamikaze II "Sonics 95" comes from the unique jerseys worn by Seattle during the 1995-1996 NBA season. The Seattle Supersonics traditional colors of green and yellow over white or black were remixed for the team’s 1995 season with the addition of crimson red and a new logo. What better way to commemorate the changing of the jerseys than with a retro version of the most memorable sneaker from the Sonics in 1995, the Reebok Kamikaze II. As the second signature sneaker for Shawn Kemp, the Kamikaze II became a legend amongst sneakerheads thanks to its bold, easily remembered and recognizable "wave" side panel design. Of course, Shawn Kemp also had one of his best years and led the Sonics to 64 wins and an NBA Finals appearance, so that helped make the Kamikaze II one of the most important basketball sneakers of the 90s. In 2013, Reebok brought the Kamikaze II back as a retro for the first time. The "Sonics 95" colorway features an Olive/Crimson Mist-Reebok Gold-Black colorway that seems like it could have (or should have) been done back when the Sonics and Kemp were making their run towards an NBA championship. Though the Sonics lost to MJ and the Bulls in those NBA Finals, and the team has since relocated to OKC, the Reebok Kamikaze II "Sonics 95" is one of those designs that will help fans feel nostalgic about the good old days in Seattle.
