Explore the great outdoors with our guide on what's good

This article is part 87 of 67 in the series: Australia

It’s called ‘the great outdoors’ for a reason. They don’t call it ‘the OK outdoors’ or ‘the not bad outdoors’, do they? There’s a whole world to explore out there, but don’t feel like you’ve got to travel to somewhere exotic to experience some nature. Often there are great hikes or wetlands just out of the city – if you’re really lucky you’ll be able to go somewhere without phone service and really immerse yourself in the wild. But if you are heading off the beaten track, it’s important to have the right gear – so we’ve put together a list of the best hiking gear on StockX.

Best Hiking Gear ACG

Nike ACG Air Mowabb

The Nike Air Mowabb was originally released all the way back in 1991, and it hasnā€™t aged a bit. The Limestone colourway launched in October 2021 – 30 years after the OG.Ā

The Nike ACG Air Mowabb Limestone features an orange elastic inner bootie and premium beige suede upper to deliver the utmost comfort and durability. A soft foam midsole and grooved outsole completes the design. The high cut bootie stops critters and grit from getting into your shoes and socks – letā€™s be honest, thereā€™s not much worse than getting pebbles and dirt inside your shoes when youā€™re out for a hike.

Supreme The North Face Trekking Crusher

If you want to hit the great outdoors, you know the rules – no hat, no play. Protect ya melon from the elements with the Supreme The North Face Trekking Crusher.Ā

It features a chin strap so you never lose your lid in wild weather, as well as several straps on the main part of the hat, perfect for securing the items you need in the wilderness – a granola bar, some sunscreen, maybe even a fishing lure depending on where youā€™re going.

Best Hiking Gear TS

Travis Scott Cactus Trails Hiking Socks Pack

The Cactus Trails Travis Scott merch collection dropped alongside the release of his collaborative Air Max 270 and apparel capsule with Nike. Travis Scott included a three pack of socks in the collection, all of which feature Cactus trails branding. The socks included in the three pack came in different colours; natural, gold, and brown. For what it’s worth, I like the brown ones the most.

Kith Columbia Henrys Fork V Vest

Kith and Columbia recently came together for a massive 45 piece outdoor collection that included the Kith Columbia Henrys Fork V Vest. Constructed using a mix of nylon and mesh, the Henrys Fork V Vest is the ultimate utility vest for the modern explorer. It features pockets on pockets, with a number of zippable and open compartments for whatever you need to keep stashed on the hike.Ā

Plus, Columbia have been in the adventure wear game for the longest, so you know this vest will stand up to whatever you can put it through. Letā€™s go.

Palace Nalgene P-Cycle Water Bottle

Look, I donā€™t claim to know much about much, but if thereā€™s one thing I do know itā€™s this – people love Nalgenes. I understand why – itā€™s much easier than walking around with cupped hands trying to hold water, or just tipping water straight into your backpack. I get it. And if youā€™re going to cop a Nalgene, stay green with the Palace Nalgene P-Cycle Water Bottle.Ā

Seriously though, you can pack bulk hydration into this bottle, allowing you to go further into the unknown. The large mouth means you can slam it down fast, which is a must for me on warm days under the sun.

Hoka One One Kaha Low GTX

Thereā€™s not much that compares to a pair of Hokaā€™s for a trip off the beaten path. The Hoka Kaha Low GTX Bodega is a collab with the bi-coastal retailer Bodega, who have hard-to-spot stores in LA and Boston.Ā

These are great for slippery or uneven conditions, thanks to 5mm lugs on the Vibram Megagrip outsole – keeping you safe and upright. The inner also features a Gore-Tex bootie to keep you warm and dry in whatever conditions. The olive and almond colour palette is complemented by yellow laces and tonal Hoka branding. Go get ā€˜em.

Supreme The North Face Trekking Convertible Backpack And Waist Bag

The Supreme The North Face Trekking Convertible Backpack And Waist Bag could be the ultimate in versatile backpacks. At first glance, it looks just like a normal backpack, but upon closer inspection you can see the zip off waist bag. Itā€™s kinda like the cargo pants of backpacks, but in a cool, definitely-not-your-dad’s-backpack sort of way.Ā

The connect from Supreme and The North Face is made of a recycled nylon ripstop. Itā€™s water resistant, and features a multitude of compartments internally and externally. Of course, the pack features lower back support for those long days in the woods.
